Reminder: re-enrollments due Nov. 15
Greene County 4-H members and volunteers will be recognized for their achievements and contributions at the annual Greene County 4-H Awards Ceremony, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Churdan public library. The public is welcome to attend.
Awards will recognize 4-H members for their achievements in a variety of project areas, from science and engineering to swine and poultry. More than 45 4-H members submitted their record books this year, documenting their work. Meanwhile, leaders and adult volunteers who have served five, 10, 15, 20, 25, or more years in the 4-H program will receive much deserved accolades. Local organizations and current or past volunteers will also be awarded for their time and promotion of the 4-H program.
This year’s activities are similar to the last couple Awards Day events. Kayla Willms, Greene County youth & 4-H coordinator said, “We wanted to do something fresh again this year and combined the August picnic and Awards Day. We want to hold our event around the county to showcase each one of our communities.”
Free activities will begin at 3:30 pm at the park in Churdan where there is equipment to play on. There will also be yard games for 4-H members and their families. The youth development committee is sponsoring and preparing a picnic meal beginning at 5 pm. and the awards ceremony will start at 6 pm. Willms encourages parents and youth interested in 4-H to take time to attend the awards ceremony and see the skills 4-Hmembers are learning each year. “Please join us for a day of celebration!”
4-H members are also reminded to finish the online re-enrollment process for the 2019-2020 4-H year. The deadline for re-enrolling is by the close of business (4:30 p.m.) on Thursday, Nov. 15. From Nov. 15 through May 15, there will be a late fee of $25 if the online process and the enrollment fees are not completed. If families are having difficulties re-enrolling online, they may set up an appointment with Extension staff to complete the re-enrollment process. New 4-H members are welcome to join at any time during the 4-H year without the late fee penalty. Re-enrollments or new enrollments will not be accepted after May 15.
